Online hate has developed in recent years to the point of being capable of seriously damaging the lives of many people. This volume analyses the phenomenon from a criminological perspective (Part I) and a legal-criminal perspective (Part II), examining cyberbullying, hate speech, racism and homophobia online. The first part, accessible to non-specialist readers, addresses the criminological peculiarities of hatred on the internet. The second part focuses on the criminal repression — which is often absent — of hate crimes in the Italian legal landscape, and on the regulatory gaps that characterise this emerging area of law. The book originates from the author's law degree thesis on the criminal repression of hate manifestations through the internet, revised and republished in this volume.
